BALANCING THE KOSHAS

We are made up of five vibratory fields (koshas) that surround our spirit (atman) When there is tension in any one of these fields, it effects the others and we lose our connection to spirit, to our natural state of being which is peace and joy. In this masterclass we will focus on releasing tension in all five sheaths using asana, pranayama, kriya techniques restorative postures, visualization and yoga nidra.
The masterclass will begin with an asana practice designed to release tension from all five sheaths. Participants will then recline on bolsters to the sound of soothing music, the aroma of essential oils and gentle hands on adjustments. The asana and restorative practice will be accompanied by pranayama, visualizations and kriya techniques to help release tension from all five vibratory fields.
The practice will conclude with a thirty to forty minute long yoga nidra, designed to systematically release contraction from each of these vibratory fields starting with the physical body, then the breath body, the mind body, the wisdom body so we can rest back into the bliss body. When we are connected to our essence the light of spirt shines through directing and giving meaning to our lives.
The practice will be followed by a Q&A where Mona will briefly discuss the koshas and how we can integrate an awareness of the koshas into asana, restorative and yoga nidra.
About Yogiraj Mona Anand:
Mona is a partner and co- owner of ISHTA Yoga in New York. She is a Yogiraj (Yoga Master) in the ISHTA lineage and a Senior Trainer in ISHTA's 500 hour trainings taught globally.
An integral part of Mona's teachings is yoga nidra, a guided mediation technique she was first introduced to as a teenager growing up in Mumbai, India. She was profoundly affected by the power of this technique to induce a deep state of relaxation and proceeded to use it throughout her life. Mona likes to say she has never taught a class without a yoga nidra. She has designed numerous yoga nidra recordings to help people deeply relax, to fall asleep, to lift their spirits, to ground and center and to balance chakra imbalances. Her recordings are available on iTunes and Spotify. She has also developed and teaches her own yoga nidra trainings, "Mona Anand's ISHTA Yoga Nidra" and "Yoga Nidra and the Chakras" and is currently writing a book on Yoga Nidra with Yogiraj Alan Finger.
